In his sixth event, Grigor Dimitrov finally managed to cope with the "Shanghai" curse and skip the second round of the Chinese Masters after a thirtieth win with 3-6 6-3 7-6 (6) over Ryan Harrison, No. 46 in the World rankings. In the decisive set, the Bulgarian lead with a solid breakthrough, but a little later lagged with 2-4 to reach the tiebreak, in which he played three consecutive American 3-6 6-3 7-6.
