The best Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov expressed his support for the candidacy of Varna to European Youth Capital in 2017
"I support # Varna2017 - my favorite for the European Capital of Youth", wrote on his official Facebook profile, which in the past was a player with the club in Varna "Black Sea Elite".
Earlier this year, Dimitrov was named an honorary citizen of the city at the request of Mayor Ivan Portnih. The Bulgarian was unable to accept the award in person, but it's the parents Dimitar and Mary in a special ceremony, which was held in celebration of the city - 15 August.
Varna will fight for honors in four cities - Newcastle (United Kingdom), Perugia (Italy), Cascais (Portugal) and Galway (Ireland).
