Article By Tennis Glamour :
The power couple of tennis will return for the Brisbane International from January 4-11 at the Queensland Tennis Centre.
In a sport where relationships between active players often crash on the rocks of two ambitious careers and two sets of priorities, Sharapova, the French Open champion, and Dimitrov, Bulgaria’s bustling world No.11, are both coming off excellent years.
For this year’s campaign, they showed their commitment by flying to Brisbane from the US on Christmas morning.
Sharapova cast off worries about a shoulder injury by making the Brisbane semi-finals, where she lost to Serena Williams in a gripping contest. After an Australian Open disappointment, she went on to win her second consecutive French Open.
Dimitrov started this year ranked No.24, but wins over Stan Wawrinka, Andy Murray (twice) and Tomas Berdych took him briefly into the top 10 for the first time.
“I love the easy atmosphere of Brisbane, It’s summertime in Australia and everyone’s on a summer break and in a great mood and you see the summer dresses. I love that part about it. It’s very free-spirited. You can go to cafes, try to find something by the water, go to the zoo, so there’s a little bit of everything.''
“Pat Rafter Arena is very intimate. The fans were wonderful and the tournament organisation was great.’’
Sharapova says she feels blessed to have a boyfriend who understands how she needs space for her tennis.
''It’s a part of my life I like to keep to myself. It’s important to keep a part of you private and personal because so much of a professional athlete’s life is in the public eye,’’ she said.
“I have a tremendous amount of respect for him as a person and it’s nice to share each other’s company every day and forget about what we do, have other interests. If you are happy and that person brings you happiness, you have to cherish it as much as you can.’’ ended Sharapova
Brisbane is one of 11 tournaments which this year brought Sharapova and Dimitrov, almost four years her junior, to the same city in the same week.
Encouragingly for his Australian coach Roger Rasheed, Dimitrov reserved his best for major tournaments, ending Murray’s title defence at Wimbledon before losing a four-set semi-final to Novak Djokoivc.
Earlier at the Australian Open, the Bulgarian was too good for another big-hitting star, Canada’s Milos Raonic, who will make his Brisbane debut, before losing in the quarter-finals to Rafal Nadal in four sets.
“It’s going to be my third time (in Brisbane) and it was one of my first big breakthrough tournaments so I’m always excited to get out there,’’ said Dimitrov, who was the last year’s Brisbane International runner-up.
I enjoy the city quite a bit especially at that time of year when you have all the fireworks around and people gathering. It’s a great event to start the year with a lot of people coming to watch, the courts are great so it’s always positive coming out there. The crowd has always been a full house (at Rafter Arena), always been really supportive and they appreciate good tennis. I love that tournament and I definitely want to win it one day and why not next year? This tournament is certainly on my list.’’ ended Dimitrov

Peter Bodo: '' Grigor is the most progressive player on tour ''
Editor of "TENNIS Magazine" Peter Bodo devoted much of his material, which draws attention to Grigor Dimitrov constancy last season. Bodo is clear that he personally Bulgarian is the most progressive player in the ATP Tour.
Here is an article expert:
''Hung him the nickname Baby Federer about 5 years ago, mainly due to the great one-handed backhand. But sometimes you have to wonder if held for a successor to the mighty Federer never more than baby steps to stardom.
Child spread to Dimitrov. Now 23, in 2014, took a few steps toward the giant elite status. Personally for me it was the most progressive player on the tour.
Other players can also assign honor. Stanislas Wawrinka won the Grand Slam, Masters Cup and the "Davis" Kei Nishikori became the first Asian Grand Slam finals, and was crowned Cilic US Open.
But they all have their own history long before the 2014 season to Dimitrov had never set foot in the top 20, but in recent months has increased to №8 and welcome the new season on the 11 th position in the ranking. But more importantly, it is a platform to make the final leap to the top.
Dimitrov won titles in three different surfaces: hard courts (Acapulco), clay (Bucharest) and grass (Queens). The conclusion is that Grigor is flexible enough to be a factor at all major events.
Its versatility would mean so much if not for the fact that Dimitrov build endurance. 50-18 season record and balance in the last eleven months developed credibility and focus that are needed for the top 10 and keep it.
Learn to win - day after day, regardless of the conditions is an important task for any young player. But doubly important for Dimitrov - a mercurial talent, a shot is a combination of intuition and quality.
Dimitrov - dark-haired, slender and wiry - Samples deep in the culture of the tabloids after becoming girlfriend Maria Sharapova in 2013. It is clear that the relationship is more entertaining than a motivator.
But the most impressive this year to Dimitrov, it is only twice at the start of the tournament throughout the season. This extraordinary show of perseverance, many Grand Slam champion. For comparison - Wawrinka lost the first match in the tournament four times in 2014.
Other events of the season were Dimitrov season victory over Raonich in Australia, both beating Andy Murray - one of the semi-finals in Acapulco and one in Wimbledon, where Dimitrov shocked reigning champion in the quarterfinals.
Dimitrov then reached the final in Stockholm, where he won in 2013, but failed to defend the trophy after losing to Tomas Berdych.
Perhaps, the past season was the last lesson that should be taught Dimitrov. And now it seems that he is ready to come on big boy pants.''
